FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel on Thursday called on Congress for urgent additional funding, warning some carriers in the reimbursement program have told the FCC recently "that they foresee significant consequences that could result from the lack of full funding, including having to shut down their networks."
There are 11 opportunities on the Optica Foundation website listing “Early Career Prizes & Fellowships.” All but the Huawei-funded competition — which awards $1 million per year, or twenty times the next most-lucrative annual cash prize on the site — list individual and corporate financial contributors.
This new proposal would permanently prohibit Huawei and other entities on an FCC list of companies posing national security risks "from playing any role in the equipment authorization program while also providing the FCC and its national security partners the necessary tools to safeguard this important process," the agency said.
Analysts on average see iPhone sales, which account for about half of Apple's revenue, falling 10.4% in the first three months of 2024, according to LSEG. That drop would be the steepest in more than three years.
"The industry and global markets will remain rife with uncertainty for the rest of 2024. Nevertheless, we are continuously building out mechanisms for global business continuity and agile operations," the company said.
The analysts estimated that the Google Wear OS share outside China will climb to 27 per cent in 2024 in the advanced smartwatch segment.

Huawei, which has been on a trade restriction list since 2019, surprised the industry and the U.S. government when it released a new phone powered by a sophisticated chip last August. The Huawei Mate 60 Pro was seen as a symbol of China's technological resurgence despite Washington's ongoing efforts to cripple its capacity to produce advanced semiconductors.
